Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Soft and gentle at first, then a little spice pep emerges. Develops into linseed oil and marigolds – the flowers not the gloves. Baker’s crust and sourdough.
Palate: Glorious oak notes and vanilla and fudge, a little nuttiness comes in, dried walnuts. A touch of salted butter on rye bread, then dried chilli powder prickle.
Finish: Long and delightfully spicy, hints of cumin, dried chilli and then the oak grips on.
Comment: Very solid grain, lovely backbone of oak and layers of spices. Add soda and ice and wait for summer to hit home.
8.7
Taster   Sam Coyne
Nose: Creamy fudge, with a smattering of brown sugar. Vanilla and a hint of apple cores and peel. Freshly baked apple pies.
Palate: Mouthfeel is really oily and quite coating. Sweetness, firstly through the apple note and then richer as vanilla chocolates come to the fore. Citrus zest keeps things bright.
Finish: Long and dry. Oak. A little maltiness.
Comment: Oak makes a welcome experience in the finish. Flits between rich and bright with ease and therefore is likely to suit many tastes.
