Tasting notes

Taster Rob Allanson

Nose: Really gentle to start with, wood drying in the sun, hints of dampened coal fire, smoked cod in cream. There’s a little spice too, clove and dried oregano. A caramel sweetness as well.
Palate: All that caramel rolls in first, then there’s waves of Latakia and cherry-infused tobacco. The spices slowly build up with a more sweetness from blackberry compote.
Finish: The sweetness is all wrapped up with the smoke, but neither overpowers the other.
Comment: Nicely balanced and a really lovely gentle Islay.

Taster Becky Paskin

Nose: Crunchy toffee popcorn and slow-baked apples eaten while sat on a salty pebble beach, the aroma of a far-off barbecue wafting by.
Palate: More baked apples, crunchy toffee and spun sugar. That barbecue is grilling salty meats as a soft wisp of smoke appears in the middle, bringing with it with some gentle spice and toasted oak.
Finish: A touch of smoke and chewy caramels.
Comment: Gentle and easy-drinking. A lovely session whisky to share with friends.
