Tasting notes
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Mature rancio notes with lightly fungal depth. Then stir in some malted milk and a rich suet pudding sweetness. A drop of water makes it more Cognac like - there’s beeswax, apricot. Elegant.
Palate: Softly spiced. Cedar (humidor) and then fig before the waxy fruits take charge. Add in the fading fragrance of dried flowers and it’s a hugely complex mouthful.
Finish: Warming spices.
Comment: A belter of a bottling. Recommended.

Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Rich, deep sherry. Mature oak. Old floor. Toffee. Damson plum. Lots of oak but it does not mask the malty heart. Sultanas. Touch of chocolate.
Palate: Generous, complex. A velvet feel. Marmalade. Sour citrus fruit. The dry oakiness releases spices.
Finish: Dry, oaky with a touch of astringency.
Comment: A beautiful old timer. Noble oak and rich body. Water stiffens it and destroys the elegance.
