Tasting notes
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Sweet and gentle with a hint of apple, fresh rock candy, boiled sweet, sacking and a little rye.
Palate: Floral frangipani notes then guava before a crunching gear shift into the world of highly perfumed rye. Weirdly, it becomes vegetal and almost cachaca like.
Finish: Tight, slightly bitter.
Comment: Less aromatically intense than last year. Will work brilliantly with Antica Formula.
7.7
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Tangy. Cider apples and caramelised apples and pears. Toasted harvester bread. Burnt wood smoke. A rye character is there.
Palate: Smooth, velvety at first then harsh like sanding paper. The alcohol bite catches the tongue. Chestnut purée and all spice. Licorice.
Finish: Lingering, quite warm. Oaky.
Comment: The palate is more expressive than the nose but a bit brutal after the initial smoothness.
