Tasting notes

Taster Mark Newton

Nose: Chock-full of character. A dirty bass-note worthy of Campbeltown. Earthy and sweet. Vegetative and biscuity, with strawberry jam and dried fruits to follow.
Palate: Silky delivery. Slightly mealy, but very pleasant toffee, raisins and dates, fruity notes rising above. Hedgerow jam and dark chocolate. Very warming cinnamon.
Finish: Surprisingly long, and falls back to that core earthiness balanced with the jammy sugars.
Comment: Where easy-drinking meets strong character. Enough to please everyone?

Taster Laura Foster

Nose: Like toffee-flavoured whisky. And cream liqueur! Hazelnut praline completes the sweet triumvirate. A very pleasant combination that’s easy on the nose.
Palate: Dark chocolate-covered toffee chews, toasted hazelnuts and roasted chestnuts. There’s a touch of sour cherry in there too. Adding water gives a rich mouthfeel and salted caramel boost.
Finish: Cherry filled chocolates – the ones that burst with liqueur when you bite into them.
Comment: Sweet relief. An easy-drinking drop.
