Tasting notes
Taster   Christopher Coates
Nose: Peaches in syrup, banana fritter and tinned pineapple slices. Sage and a cereal element, like freshly kneaded sourdough ready for the oven. Fresh green apple and almond, too.
Palate: More sage, a little anise, and some chestnut mushroom. Under that, the fruits (apple, pear, peach and pineapple) provide a solid foundation. Puts me in mind of beef and pear tagine.
Finish: Long. The savoury element fades first, leaving the apples and pears.
Comment: Unusual, but it works!
8.3
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Sweet and nutty, like passing the caramelised nut sellers in London, walnuts in rich syrup and some candied almonds.
Palate: That nutty theme keeps going, milk chocolate-covered hazelnuts and peanuts, nougat with a handful of flaked almonds.
Finish: A little spice prickle creeps in, white powdered pepper tingle, then it’s gone.
Comment: An easy-going whisky with some lovely nutty notes, I can see it becoming moreish.
