Tasting notes
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Slow and shy at first, takes its time to build, then there’s black cherry ice cream with brandy snap biscuits. Redcurrant jelly with a hint of aromatics there in the background.
Palate: Quite restrained at first then that black cherry flavour comes in, with roast marshmallow and digestive biscuits.
Finish: Like the rest it’s quite gentle and takes its time leaving sweet toffee notes.
Comment: Really just missing a full-on chocolate edge; then you would have s’mores contained in a bottle.
8.1
Taster   Becky Paskin
Nose: Super fruity and sherbety, like a bowl of tropical muesli with dried papaya and coconut flakes. There’s a hint of butyric that adds a creamy texture, like vanilla ice cream.
Palate: More fruit, which now moves into concentrated orange juice, citrus peel and raisins, before a big hit of spice and tannic oak. The butyric adds an almost goat milk quality.
Finish: Creamy, though a little sour and dry.
Comment: If a whisky were to evoke memories of eating cheese and pineapple sticks at an ’80s birthday party, this would do it.
