Tasting notes

Taster Christopher Coates

Nose: Cigar box notes of cedar and tobacco, soy sauce, and black treacle tart. Raisins and dried figs. Some earthy, leaf mulch-y notes. Stewed pears, apples and plums.
Palate: Light. Stewed orchard fruits with lots of Muscovado sugar and a glug of cream sherry. Honey-glazed almonds and peanuts with smoked paprika and salt.
Finish: Medium, with lingering nuttiness.
Comment: The kind of whisky that will work in all situations: sipping, highball, Old Fashioned... It just works.

Taster Phoebe Calver

Nose: All of the creamy hazelnut praline notes on this, followed by rummy raisins, mincemeat, almond flakes and candied peel.
Palate: Just the slightest hint of nail polish remover, then it’s back to the rich dark fruit notes. Hazelnut milk latte, almond flakes dusted over vanilla ice cream, and warming oak spice.
Finish: A medium length finish, with a kick of rum and raisin cheesecake.
Comment: There’s a lot of good in this glass, with some complexity and fun to be had.
