Tasting notes
Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Very waxy and honeyed. Peaches and cream, buttermilk. Pumpkin pie – fresh pastry especially so. Pears in syrup. Oranges.
Palate: As velvety as they come – texture really is lovely. Apricots, marmalade, honey and a good malty heft. A hint of pale ale on the back end, that lands with grapefruit acidity.
Finish: Peppery and acidic – perhaps too much considering the lovely silky fruitiness of the palate.
Comment: A very entertaining dram with wonderful balance. Dangerously moreish to boot.
8.3
Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: Feel the alcohol burn. Charred wood aromas wrap around satsuma segments, stone fruit, lime juice and sweet peas.
Palate: A paper bag of penny toffees and 60 per cent cocoa dark chocolate, shaken up with a dusting of pepper and chilli flakes. The satin-like mouthfeel once you’ve added water is very appealing.
Finish: The overall impression I’m left with is one of wood. Pencil shavings specifically. Oh, and some hazelnuts too.
Comment: A pleasing whisky for sweet teeth who also like a bit of bite.
