Tasting notes
Taster   Laura Foster
Nose: Very floral – lilies, violets, jasmine, freesias. Oranges and gherkin, rose water and a dollop of toffee.
Palate: Dry and punchy, with mouthfilling spice and a burn from that ABV. You can definitely taste the rye, alongside that rose water, some bitter lemon pip, cool menthol and hot chilli powder.
Finish: A mouthful of pretty flowers.
Comment: A kick as strong as a horse wearing an aromatic flower garland.
8.3
Taster   Mark Newton
Nose: Bright cherries move into a slightly solventy, nail varnish territory. Vanilla aplenty, with sweet sloe gin. Caramel. Water doesn’t really affect things much.
Palate: Cherries and caramel, with mince pie filling and plenty of wood bitterness. Liquorice with plenty of nutmeg and peppermint. Cardamom and ginger. Water doesn’t help.
Finish: Sweet, spicy, driven by oak, with a hint of strawberry-flavoured cough syrup.
Comment: It came out with attitude, but didn’t quite have the chops to back it up.
