Tasting notes
Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Intense, edgy and grainy with oily toffee, woody, herbal rye-like spices and chunky oak. Stunning depth, charred wood and smoke.
Palate: Lovely, vibrant opening with oily toffee and sweet apricot fruit. The oak is pretty chunky but it’s all blown away by the fresh, botanical/herbal notes. The middle displays some lovely rum-like dried fruit, but the herbal/ spice axis is the star here.
Finish: Long, spicy and mouth-watering with lingering lightly coffee’s and oily dried fruit.
Comment: Wow. Only 10% Rye and it has that much of an impact. Superb stuff.
Taster   Annabel Meikle
Nose: A soft nose with gentle pear, and fresh mint. Toffee apples and hard butterscotch sweets. After time, balsamic vinegar on brown paper, pleasantly so.
Palate: Bagfuls of millionaires shortbread -biscuit, caramel and milk chocolate. Quite a zippy wood presence that reminded me of clove.
Finish: Soft, gentle and smooth.
Comment: I liked this for its delicacy, if a little shy.
