Tasting notes

Taster Laura Foster

Nose: Reminds me of a passanda curry – ground almonds, cinnamon, cardamom and saffron with loose-leaf black tea.
Palate: Grainy texture – representing the tannins of that black tea. Fresh, sappy pine shavings, lemon juice and the surprise of biting into a lemon pip. Cardamom and cinnamon in the background.
Finish: Almond character is there, baked in a cake served with Ceylon tea.
Comment: Smells nothing like a curry, but all the elements of the passanda are there. Trust me!

Taster Mark Newton

Nose: Melon and lychees. Buckets of vanilla. Lemon drizzle cake, highly perfumed honeysuckle. Apples. Yeasty and fresh. Crushed blackcurrant leaves.
Palate: Vanilla, green tomatoes and blackcurrants. Hay-like, with some pine nuts and green tea. Floral honey, with solvent notes. Tinned fruit salad in syrup, but not much.
Finish: Short, citrusy, the green tea returns with ginger and honey for warmth.
Comment: A boozy herbal tea. I can’t help but wonder about the casks...
