Tasting notes
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Intense, perfumy. Oak driven. Exotic wood. Vetiver. Cranberries. raisins. Orange peel. Cloves. Caramelised pecans. Maple syrup.
Palate: Dry and astringent. Dark chocolate. Bitter liquorice root. Oak is dominating. Dried fruit, the same as on the nose. Then a warm flavour of long peppercorn.
Finish: Dry and spicy.
Comment: An old bourbon? Too much on the oaky side for me but it will please those who like this style of whiskey.

Taster   Chris Goodrum
Nose: Slabs of sweet, herbal rye with fat corn and earthy, edgy burnt toffee oak. With time citrus, coal dust and midnight violet with coffee, balsamic and raisinated fruit.
Palate: Lighter and less complex than the nose suggest. A dominating burnt toffee character. Oily corn and youthful spirit come through with herbal rye. The middle is a little austere.
Finish: Long and very spicy with the youthful, marc-like spirit lingering. Where has the oak disappeared to?
Comment: I was expecting a lot more for the palate given that very complex nose.
