Tasting notes
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: Dry. Light peat. Grass. Linseed, leather.
Palate: Lightly oily. Sweet. Lemon-zest. Lemongrass. Lightly malty.
Finish: Sherbet. Lemon-zest again. Grass. Appetising nutty dryness.
Comment: More of a Lowland style. If Deanston were regarded as a Lowland distillery, it would score higher.
7.0
Taster   Jim Murray
Nose: Delicate intertwining of honey and butterscotch with a bite of dry oak. Redeemed, rather unusually, by a sprinkling of crushed rose petals.
Palate: A thin, insipid, start then a roar of spice, malt and oak in one mad rush.
Finish: Bitter at first then softening oak.
Comment: Oops. Nothing like the lovely dram at this age I normally come across. Pleasant enough, but too thin and lacklustre to be true.
6.3
