An enticing nose but quite a rough palate. Water does not seem to tame the firewater much as it enhances spices. And don't say it is too virile for a female palate. It is NOT that!

Taster

Nose: Buoyant, pleasantly tangy. Floral and spicy. Carnation, black pepper. Dried flowers, hayloft. An indistinct meaty aroma (chicken broth?). Cedar.

Palate: Smooth and sweet in spite of the strength. Then a spicy outburst. Hot chilli. Sherbety.

Finish: Hot, prickly, spicy, almondy

Comment: An enticing nose but quite a rough palate. Water does not seem to tame the firewater much as it enhances spices. And don't say it is too virile for a female palate. It is NOT that!

Score: 7.5

Taster

Nose: Huge and soft. Baked fruits with thick honey (almost treacle) tropical fruits and black banana. A deep, powerful, zesty bourbon.

Palate: Very sweet, almost liqueur like. High, chest-hurting, alcohol burn. Blackberry and burnt sugar. Slightly nutty.

Finish: Long mix of wood and a ring of fire.

Comment: Broad-shouldered and old-fashioned. A true memorial to a real giant.
