Glenfiddich

Aged 12 Years, Toasted Oak Reserve

ABV 40%

A bit of a let down after such a great nose. A very pretty whisky but higher alcohol might have given it better impact in the mouth.

Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Pine sap, aromatic woods, beech nut. In time a sweeter note of kumquat, then pan drop/minty sweets. Oak driven, but sweetly so.

Palate: Slightly thin after such an impressive nose. Plenty of wood and a touch of créme brûlée.

Finish: Soft, pillow-like.

Comment: A bit of a let down after such a great nose. A very pretty whisky but higher alcohol might have given it better impact in the mouth.

Score: 7.5

Taster

Nose: Satsuma segments, nail polish, apricot cream and papaya. Then a doughy, pumice-like element, that borders on soapy.

Palate: Sweet, with vanilla and almonds and a lightly bitter oakiness.

Finish: Pretty short, but a delicate US oakiness.

Comment: A pretty nose but fairly uneventful on the palate. Pleasant.
