A stunning farewell performance.
50 Years Old
Standard (Distillery or blended)
Nose: Soft smoke. The burnt skin of some chestnuts roasting.
Palate: Rich, smooth, luxurious. A whole box of liqueur chocolates concentrated into my tasting glass. Dark chocolate, variously filled with coffee and cherry liqueurs. Perhaps even peppermint.
Finish: Sappy, oaky, dryness.
Comment: A stunning farewell performance.
Nose: Fragrant wood (rosewood?) incense/musk, rancio, cheese rind, sweet and rum-like, toffee apple. Perfumed.
Palate: Starts very concentrated and sweet. Treacle scones, bung cloth, humidor, then firm wood starts to dominate. Grippy.
Finish: Treacle toffee, tannic.
Comment: A wonderful nose but too woody for me.
