Tasting Notes

Dave Broom

Taster

Nose: Rich, solid and malty with cream, soft fruit, sultana (bread and butter pudding) alongside light turfy/heathery notes.

Palate: Generous and soft. Quite oily on the palate with some charred wood notes. Chewy, fruity and gentle.

Finish: Light smoke. Drying.

Comment: A lovely and quite complex range of flavours and textures. A palate whisky.

Score: 7.8

Taster

Nose: Intense. Fresh paint. Nutty. Almond milk. Green peas boiling. Crushed walnut. Beeswax in the background.

Palate: Silky, smooth. Wood (pine cone). Freshly baked loaf. Distant fruitiness. Perry. Cinnamon.

Finish: Fairly rich. On the bitter side.

Comment: Another unusual Macallan. Well-balanced. No sherry overload. Second-or third-fill maybe. Or a Fino cask?
