Taster

Nose: Delightfully sooty, oily and salty. A steam train on a coastal railway. A\rtouch of blackcurrant too.

Palate: A heady mix of sweet and full berry fruit, sooty smoke and rampant peat.

Finish: Full, almost creamy and with soot and fruit.

Comment: If you're a sucker for rich fruity peated whisky this won't\rdisappoint you.

Score: 8.8

Taster

Nose: Immediate complex phenolics: dried crab shells, rock pools, wet seaweed,\rDutch salted liquorice, woodsmoke, chili, barbecued peppers and in time\rengine oil.

Palate: The oily quality coats the tongue. Not just about the smoke but a\rwelling up of languorous, rich fruits which mix with shore, violet, laurel\r(bog myrtle) Ever-changing.

Finish: Ripe, long and complex.

Comment: As good a Lagavulin as I've tasted. Hie thee to Islay!
