Nose: Smoke from dying embers of a wood fire in a damp forest. Suede jackets in a second hand shop and some worn leather shoes, with leather soles. \n
Palate: The first waft of a rolled cigarette from a student’s new flat gives the basis for some applewood smoked cheese and good, homemade chutney. There is a welcoming warmth to this.\n
Finish: Plums, figs and more delicate, welcoming smoke give this a wonderful finish.\n
Comment: Really soft, delicate and warming. Brown sugar in hot coffee.

Taster
Nose: Thick, tarry sherry, moist, smoke infused, malty fruitcake with wood, tangerine and sea air. Nutty with walnut and pecan notes.
Palate: Burnt wood, peat and thick treacle. Malty and smoky with drying tannins, balanced by the fruitcake. Peat dust coats the tongue with a touch of salt. \n
Finish: Drying and salty with lingering notes of citrus rind, green nuts, green wood and bitter dark chocolate, but a thread of treacle adds balancing sweetness. \n
Comment: Wood, peat and treacle makes for an entertaining mouthful!
Score: 8.5
