ABV 46.3%
A well constructed dram but a bit stiff. I wish the alcohol was better mastered. A drop of water rounds it up a little but tends to add bitterness as well.

Nose: Nutty. Intense. Toasted hazelnut developing into a creamier praline note. Then fruit appears. Cider apples. Some orange peel. And a hint of raisins coated in chocolate. Oak is never far.
Palate: Crisp and dry. With a crunchy feel. A sweet malty start.
Finish: Warm, dry and soothing on nutty notes.
Comment: A well constructed dram but a bit stiff. I wish the alcohol was better mastered. A drop of water rounds it up a little but tends to add bitterness as well.

Nose: Crunchie bars with a little blueberry then rubbery notes suggesting ex-sherry casks at work. Better with water. Malty/nutty with some liquorice.
Palate: Rosehips and a slightly syrupy quality. Chewy, glossy, gingery. There's a lot of oak in here alongside hazelnut chocolate. Just a little flabby which\rpulls it down a notch.
Finish: Oaky, slightly drying. Hint of smoke.
Comment: Seems to be slightly hidden somehow. Maybe it just needs time to settle in the bottle.
Score: 7.9
