Tasting Notes

Dave Broom

Taster

Nose: Damp hay and coal dust with some farmyard notes. Cheese rind and penetrating alcohol. Sulphurous.

Palate: Biscuity, then liquorice soon overtaken by a dank note like a wet cellar. Lacks mid-palate oomph.

Finish: Suddenly appears to improve, but then the sulphur returns.

Comment: I find it a little grubby.

Score: 7

Taster

Nose: Butter, kiwi, apples and peardrops. Spritzy with grapefruit and lime, but a little sharp and bordering on metallic. An ovaltiney background and a sweet egginess, like custard tarts.

Palate: A robust cereal character, plums, vanilla and some nutmeg.

Finish: Milk chocolate.

Comment: Put off slightly by that combination of sharpness and sweet egg, but pleasant enough.
