Nose
Clearly old. Reduced into thick toffee, heathery smoke then stewing quince, rum-soaked sultana and mixed peels. Then it starts to lighten, becoming sumptuously elegant.
Palate
Gentle, sweet start with good layered complexity. Barley sugar, oak, peat,\rtinned apricot this time.
Finish
The fruit rises gently once more. Long and lightly smoky.
Comment
Superb balance. Classic distillery character retained after four decades\r- no mean achievement.
