Tasting Notes

Dave Broom

Taster

Nose: Dry and ash-like: cedar, cigar ash, charred. Softens, showing honeycomb, candied peel, acacia, honey, kumquat, orange pekoe tea, powdered ginger.

Palate: Soft, unctuous feel. Cream, orange peel, that cigar box note again, hint of nut. Fine grained tannin. Great balance with depth and texture.

Finish: Soft and gentle, fades discreetly.

Comment: Fantastic length. A truly three-dimensional malt.

Score: 8.8

Taster

Nose: Initially curiously unyielding, slight perfume, eventually warm horse (in a good way) and cloves.

Palate: Confident. Golden syrup, slight oiliness balancing dry sherry notes, moving into soft peat and a little smoke.

Finish: Long lasting, more delicate, fragrant notes appear as it fades. Slightly winey.

Comment: This expression wears its years well.
