A first-class malt, but I would like a little more structure and style.

Michael Jackson

Taster

Nose: Lively. Fruity. Peaty.

Palate: Light, clean, cereal grain maltiness. Very firm and smooth. Developing toastier, nuttier flavours. Orange oil. Some macaroon-like sweetness, too.

Finish: Sweet grass. Smoky fragrance.

Comment: A first-class malt, but I would like a little more structure and style.

Score: 8.5

Taster

Nose: Lifted and mellow. Good, complex mix of floral, bracken top notes with plenty of spicy oak, malt and sweet fruit.

Palate: A sweet, rounded start with some honey and soft fruit, then it's given a good kick from the oak: tobacco, hazelnut and a whiff of smoke. Good feel. The oak comes to the fore as it develops.

Finish: Maybe just a little woody.

Comment: A powerful spicy malt.
