Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Light on its fragrant feet. Sharp green apples, spring blossom, fresh pine, vanilla ice creams, pencil shavings and thyme.

Palate: This tiptoes across the tongue. Crème brûlée and a drying wood influence, apple skin and that vanilla ice cream.

Finish: The vanilla palate turns to Cornish clotted cream, with a hint of hazelnut.

Comment: Slather this on a scone with some strawberry jam.

Score: 7.4

Taster

Nose: As buttery as they come. Crème caramel and lemon meringue. Praline and milk chocolate, becoming custardy as the fruits – peaches, gooseberries and blackcurrant juice – come into play.

Palate: Buttery, creamy quality with a velvety spirit. Gooseberry fool. Toffees. Lemon drizzle cake, with a hint of ginger and nutmeg. Some light syrup.

Finish: Once the fruits and sugars fade, ginger and nutmeg take over for a warming end.

Comment: A laid-back Highland lass of a dram; warming and wonderful company.
