Octomore Comus 4.2 2007

ABV 61%

Difficult to enjoy without water. Water enhances the smokiness and releases a sooty note. Ne plus ultra for the peat freaks out there.

Tasting Notes

Martine Nouet

Taster

Nose: Phenolic. Tar, cough syrup. The smoke emerges slowly. And creosote. Citrussy.

Palate: Sweet at first then bursting into a fizzy spiciness. Smoke wraps up the palate, then give way to liquorice.

Finish: Dry and sweet at the same time.

Comment: Difficult to enjoy without water. Water enhances the smokiness and releases a sooty note. Ne plus ultra for the peat freaks out there.

Score: 7.8

Taster

Nose: Quite rooty/turfy smokiness - even freshly turned earth - with touches of baked banana and, with water, laurel/bog myrtle. A good sound, sweet central purity gives the necessary balance.

Palate: Plenty of cooling eucalyptus qualities and a light dustiness before it thickens in the centre revealing fruit compote.

Finish: Fresh and smoky with a building level of honeyed sweetness.

Comment: Though hot, go easy on the water.
