Nose

A slightly rubbery note — warm tyre rubber — along with lots of cherries and orange peel. With water, some cardboard and butter tarts too.

Palate

Lots of brown sugar, orange zest, cinnamon, and nutmeg, a bit of black liquorice too. With water, the spice transitions to more of a freshly ground black pepper, and there’s even more liquorice.

Finish

Spicy with a menthol cough drop note.

Comment

A comforting bourbon if not the most exciting I’ve had in recent times — despite the high ABV I almost preferred it without water.
