Berrys' Own Selection

Bunnahabhain Distillery

1990, 21 Years Old

ABV 53.1%

A bold statement, this one. If you like heavily sherried drams, this will appeal, if not, perhaps time to reconsider.

Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: A big sherry influence, with polished wood, Brazil nut shells, a hint of struck\rmatch/sandpaper, dark chocolate and turned earth.

Palate: Chocolate malt, bitter cocoa, some burnt caramel, dried fruits (dates and figs) and molasses. As dark in flavour as you could get. Then one darker.

Finish: The remnants of dried fruit mix with some oaky dryness.

Comment: A bold statement, this one. If you like heavily sherried drams, this will appeal, if not, perhaps time to reconsider.

Score: 7.9

Taster

Nose: Deep forest floor notes, piles of leaves, allotment bonfires in the distance,\rturned soil. Then there is sweetness, strawberry laces, hazelnut chocolate\rand honey nut cornflakes.

Palate: Bran muffin dough with an earthy note developing. Masses of sherry soaked raisins and mango chutney.

Finish: Big spicy explosion and then a lingering savouriness.

Comment: A serious autumnal dram.
