Taster
Nose: Malt loaf and butter, damp coffee grinds, light sherry, boxes of raisins, damp woodland, demerara sugar, nougat and then some spices.
Palate: Very light and powdery, caster sugar and pastry. Honey roast peanut boxes. A manuka honey sweetness to it. A touch of spent match and gentle wood smoke. Oak shavings and pencil cases.
Finish: A liquorice bitterness, and Earl Grey tea edge, tempered with those oak spices.
Comment: A well balanced whiskey.
Score: 8.2
Taster
Nose: Hot terracotta tiles, mineral salts, perfumed lavender pomander and acacia honey. Time reveals a touch of ashy cigar smoke.
Palate: Passion fruit, more lavender, creamed coconut a touch of milky cornflakes and then it's off into drying Bourbon casks. Nicely balanced betwixt soaring fruit and oak.
Finish: Creamy oak and bergamot.
Comment: A no nonsense, yet elegant Bourbon.
Score: 8.4
