Nose: Cough sweets. Mint boiled sweets.
Palate: Syrupy without being cloying. Fisherman's Friend. Delicious.
Finish: Gently warming. Soothing.
Comment: An old-fashioned whisky for an old-fashioned winter's evening. Wins points for being cuddly rather than complex.

Nose: Not too much going on - dumb nose flattens out further when reduced.
Palate: Lots of wood influence dominating the whisky. Dried out and lacking passion.
Finish: Medium and warming.
Comment: As a fan of Benromach, I was surprised at how little character came through and felt that the whisky had been overpowered.
