Nose: Smoky, briny, with an earthy touch. Wet leaves, hint of mushroom. Opening on butterscotch and spices. Black pepper. Cranberry juice. An appley note too.
Palate: Smooth and silky. Sweet maltiness, smoked almonds. Butterscotch. A salty feel.
Finish: Dry and spicy.
Comment: A well-balanced dram.
Score: 7.8
Taster
Nose: Freshly ploughed field, a little composty. Quite autumnal with leaf mulch, bonfires and cinder toffee. A good spice kick too, almost chilli heat.
Palate: That spice hit lessens leaving sea salt caramel, fresh bread and salted butter. There is smoke too, but it's a gentle waft.
Finish: Just a touch of smoke then it dries.
Comment: A nice dram for this time of the year, soothing and lovely.
Score: 7.9
