Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Quite deep and hairy with a slightly charred, meaty edge. Into the earth again, this time with a sulphur edge. Medlar-like fruit with water.

Palate: Big, robust and mouthfilling. Long and quite deep with rooty, almost smoky notes.

Finish: Meaty again.

Comment: A good example of a little seen distillery.

Score: 7.5

Taster

Nose: Grassy. Cereal. Muesli. Dry hay. A slight sour note in the back. Fermenting pears.

Palate: Round, mouthcoating. Delightful feel. Rich fruity and oaky combination. Sweet. Plum and date chutney. Spicy (ginger).

Finish: Lingering, sweet and elegant.

Comment: An excellent whisky which has reached its peak. More time in oak and it would lose its charm.
