Benromach Distillery
ABV 40%
The best Benromach I have tasted. I wonder what she should expect in a few years from the new stillhouse.

Nose: Perfumy. New leather upholstery in a luxury car. Mint imperials for the road.
Palate: Butterscotch sauce. Peaches and cream. Sherry trifle.
Finish: Deliciously rounded. Some garden mint. A hint of peat. Balancing dryness. Gently warming.
Comment: The best Benromach I have tasted. I wonder what she should expect in a few years from the new stillhouse.

Taster
Nose: Intense and colourful. A basket of ripe summer fruit (apricot, peach) with a fresh lemony character. Becomes biscuity (shortbread) with water. Pleasant dry oakiness in the back.
Palate: Smooth and velvety. Oak and spices tend to prevail over the fruit.
Finish: Dry, spicy and slightly astringent.
Comment: A vibrant, characterful malt, drier on the palate and finish than expected from the nose.
Score: 8.25
