Nose: Fresh and lively with grassy, oaky, vanilla notes and salty extremes.
Palate: Teasing sweet and sour balance of nuts and raisins, chocolate orange and brine.
Finish: Very warming, still teasingly raisiny until a faintly peaty dryness finally prevails.
Comment: Glenmorangie in spite of its lightish origins can walk the wood finish tight rope with majestic balance.

Taster
Nose: Sweet. Very spicy. honey-cake. Baclava?
Palate: Unusually buttery. Barley-sugar sweetness at first: toffeeish, chewy, cakey. Then nutty, seed-like and grainy as it dries. Cinnamon and spices.
Finish: Short and sweet. Salty, oaky, rummy.
Comment: The madeira almost overwhelms the whisky, but the Glenmorangie saltiness finally sings.
Score: 8.5
