Littlemill Distillery (Closed 1994)

Seems sweet, but just isn't quite balanced, as if the cask has yet to interact fully with the spirit.

Tasting Notes

Dave Broom

Taster

Nose: Sweet and slightly confected, but has depth. Orange squash/opal fruit and almond. In time a note like lead pipe. A bit immature?

Palate: Light and very sweet to start, then a promising creamy maltiness, but a certain hardness remains.

Finish: Fast.

Comment: Seems sweet, but just isn't quite balanced, as if the cask has yet to interact fully with the spirit.

Taster

Nose: Light, lemony.

Palate: Creamy. Condensed milk. Becoming flowery and drying.

Finish: Surprisingly hot.

Comment: Littlemill has never been a favourite with critics - or blenders - but I have always thought it a good example of a Lowland malt.
