Nose: Fragrant peat with a kumquat lift and a slightly bitter edge. Medicinal with a touch of beach bonfire, fishing nets. Light and straightforward.
Palate: Bone-dry it starts with crisp malt, then dry smoke. A slightly perfumed quality. Gentle.
Finish: Smouldering and dry.
Comment: A good attractive introduction.

Taster
Nose: Dry. Junipery.
Palate: Flowery, creamy. Berry fruits. In the background, a cucumber-like vegetal character.
Finish: Very mild, but some leafy, herbal, dryness and late salt. Very long.
Comment: Caol Ila can be a little gin-like. This bottling could be served like a Pimms. Mind you, no gin has such a long finish.
Score: 8
