Sherry Wood Finish
No age statement
Standard (Distillery or blended)
Nose: Deep and enticing, peaches and cream and a little added salt and sour.
Palate: Rounded and nutty while the cocoa and sherry are paraded.
Finish: Warm and lingering giving way to salt and oak.
Comment: Interesting and complex with some characteristics reminiscent of Scotland's other national drink.
Nose: Dry, nutty, sherry notes, but the saltiness still comes through.
Palate: Much more voluptuous than the more familiar bourbon versions. Long, sustained, flavour development. Sherryish richness almost overpowers the distillery character.
Finish: Liquorice. rooty. Late, restrained, saltiness.
Comment: Quite heavily sherried, but the distillery character turns out to be surprisingly resilient.
