Nose: Crushed leaves and apricot: an unusual, lively combination but dulled by some vanilla.
Palate: Lively on the palate with an intensely sweet maltiness pitted against some starker, spicier oaky notes. First-rate balance.
Finish: The bitter-sweet style plays out a long finale with some hints of java coffee creeping in.
Comment: An easy-going and well preserved oldie with reasonable complexity.
Score: 7.8

Nose: A suggestion of sherry. Buttercup-like. Very faint peat.
Palate: Fresh, flowers, oily, nutty. A hint of vanilla lightly clean maltiness.
Finish: Fragrant. Just a hint of smoke.
Comment: Remarkably scenty. Very clean indeed. Delicate for my tastes but if you like an elegant malt.....
Score: 7.8
