Tasting Notes

Dave Broom

Taster

Nose: Citric yet soft and juicy: zabaglione, cereal (Weetabix), orange (Seville), heather blossom, smoke.

Palate: Perfumed and juicily soft with some sweetness. Dried apricot, orange peel, clove-like notes, walnut. Light peat. Dries as you hold it in the mouth. Good weight.

Finish: Sultana cake, coriander powder, hint of smoke.

Comment: Like the touch of peat-when's that batch getting bottled?

Score: 8.5

Taster

Nose: Potpourri. Spice cupboard. Flapjack. Syrup. Rosewater. Custard.

Palate: Slippery-smooth. Very sweet. Perfumy. Anis. Restrained fruitiness. Candied orange peel. Delicious sherry character. Great depth of flavour.

Finish: Toasty dryness. Long, soothing.

Comment: Quite an achievement. Like the previous 'replica' edition, this is more delicate than the robustly sherried Macallans of today.
