Intriguing mix between the nose and the palate – both were highly enjoyable but the taste was not what I was expecting after smelling it. A whisky with a story to tell.

Standard (Distillery or blended)
Nose: Dusty wood, carpet – like a caravan. Even a touch of motor oil. Then a marshmallow sweetness, ripe melons and sea spray. Evocative. Makes me want to go on holiday.\n
Palate: Honeyed biscuits, oat cakes, toffee, hay and pecans – a breakfast whisky.\n
Finish: Fairly nutty with a great balance across the palate: sweet, grainy, spicy and sour.\n
Comment: Intriguing mix between the nose and the palate – both were highly enjoyable but the taste was not what I was expecting after smelling it. A whisky with a story to tell.
Nose: Pungent, sugar coated almonds, barley and toffee. Leafy and herbal and hints of apricot, orange, tangerine and banana. Water makes it aromatic and buttery American oak notes appear.
Palate: Intense sugar coated barley. Almond and sweet, leafy herbs and a touch of dried grape and honey. Quite alcoholic with developing apricot and wood smoke. Water emphasises the cask’s sweetness.\n
Finish: Very long and very herbal with plenty of drying alcohol. Water lengthens and sweetens.\n
Comment: Now, that’s excellent whisky – power, elegance and complexity.
