Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Intense and spicy: cinnamon, green grass apple pie. With water reminiscent of a Martinique rum: vegetal, green banana, toasted oak.

Palate: Appley and intense. Fairly sweet and spicy. The grassy apple note continues.

Finish: Nutty.

Comment: Balanced. Arran is becoming pretty impressive.

Score: 7.8

Taster

Nose: The clean, sweet, Arran whisky and a kiss of Calvados promise a romantic encounter.

Palate: Exciting interplay: creamy whisky, cinder toffee, Belgian wafers, chocolate, crisp Calvados.

Finish: Surprisingly hot, but this bottling is high in alcohol. Needs a little ministering from the angels.

Comment: Was the Calvados cask notably generous, or is Scotch whisky particularly receptive to the Norman spirit?
