Taster

Nose: A glaze of honey and glace cherry, then lemon lozenge. A hint of saffron. With water, there is a biscuity maltiness and pear juice, and a little cow gum.

Palate: Blackcurrant pastille and dried cranberry. Starfruit drizzled with honey, lemon juice and spearmint.

Finish: Viscous at first, then cooling, clean and zesty.

Comment: A beautiful and delicate aperitif. Take your time with this - it deserves it.

Taster

Nose: A superbly mature nose of sawdusty oak, thick barley, gentle honey, moist vanilla, laced apricot and pineapple. Floral with honeysuckle and jasmine. With time the oak becomes quite buttery and a distinct peppery note appears.

Palate: Beautifully moist and sensuous, opening with honey coated apricot and gorgeously mature, sawdusty oak.

Finish: To be honest the finish is a little short with the alcohol and citrus drying the finish, but not overly detracting from what is a superb whisky.

Comment: Wow, 'toshan can age amazingly well.
