Bowmore Distillery

1989

ABV 50%

This is a whisky from a 'neutral' cask where there has been no interchange between wood and spirit, giving a neutral end result. A distillery owner would be able to blend this away, an independent bottler should have the guts not to bottle it.

Taster

Nose: Reedy, leafy. Smokiness disappointingly light. Hay.

Palate: Oily, very vegetal, distinctly mustardy. Sweet-and-sour. Parsley.

Finish: Quick, gritty, sandy.

Comment: For a relatively young Bowmore, this seems somewhat tired.
