Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: A sherry cask, for sure. Dark wood. Humus in a wet underwood. Sultanas, dried dates. Liquorice. All concentrated aromas.

Palate: Just the same. With assertive wood prevailing. Quite refined though.

Finish: Oaky with a burnt wood note. Nutty aftertaste.

Taster

Nose: Sherry central. Bitter chocolate, coffee grounds, treacle, liquorice, tinned prunes in syrup. A leathery/shoe polish note suggestive of age. Smoke emerges but in a savoury way.

Palate: The nose shouts: 'here be tannins'

Finish: Tarry and nutty malt.

Comment: An acquired taste. Some will like it, but it's too woody and nothing on the 1974 bottling by la Maison du Whisky.
