Hipflask, spade, onion sets, biltong and burning off-cuts in the evening light. Blissful.

Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Gamey upfront, roast venison and the fattiness. Dried beef. Spent match sulphuriness, a dark sugar sweetness. A distant bonfire, fresh turned soil earthiness. A melon fruitness too.

Palate: Hello peat there you are, heavy smoke hits then gives way to pears and apples, all wrapped in dark honey and paprika spices.

Finish: Long, waves of smoke and sweet cherry blossom, drying onto spices and game.

Comment: Hipflask, spade, onion sets, biltong and burning off-cuts in the evening light. Blissful.

Score: 9.6

Taster

Nose: Tropical fruit; melon, pineapple and papaya. Underpinned by a layer of light smoke. Lovely!

Palate: Wow! A little ashy, before some wooded spice around the edge of the tongue grabs hold and doesn't let go. Quite bracing, although not quite as layered as the nose.

Finish: A long finish with a final big whack of smoke, before a hint of cinnamon.

Comment: Might not sing for those who require their whiskies to do a bit of everything under the sun. Nothing wrong with that though – a solid dram.
