Some wonderful big layers of fruit in there, but balanced with that tannin note.

Nose: Honey and ginger biscuits. Lots of fruit, tins of tropical fruit segments, peaches in syrup. A little blood orange coated in chocolate too. Some skin tannins here.
Palate: The fruit keeps on coming. Paper bags of apples and ripe pears. A tropical fruit cocktail, heavy on the glacé cherries.
Finish: Lush and long with all that fruit sweetness filling the senses. It lingers a little as well.
Comment: Some wonderful big layers of fruit in there, but balanced with that tannin note.

Taster
Nose: Very oak driven with dominating aromas of warm sandalwood, vanilla and cheap, crumbly milk chocolate, but there’s also blackcurrant fruit pastilles, toasted hazelnuts and nutmeg.
Palate: Juicy dried fruit like fat sultanas, with caramelised apples and blackcurrant jam. A dry, tingly oak spice develops into the fizzing sherbet centre of flying saucers as the fruit intensifies alongside plain chocolate.
Finish: A touch dry but fruity and tingly.
Comment: Rich, round and satisfying whisky. One for the evenings.
Score: 8.6
