Overall
Score
8.9
Nose
Initially heavily meaty and punchy with aromas of gammon, sweaty cheese and new leather brogues. There’s a subtly sweet but dusty rancio quality that hints at old PX sherry.
Palate
Noticeably sweeter than the nose as the sherry influence makes itself known with rich fruitcake, marzipan and candied ginger. Waxy and complex, the flavours only build as the oak spice leads them in a waltz across the tongue.
Finish
A return to the leather with a helping of Christmas cake.
Comment
Incredibly indulgent and satisfying.
