Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Strong and robust. Wild honey, apricots, cracked black pepper and hot toffee apple.

Palate: A spicy little number with a sweet topping. It has a toasted rye bread note, but topped with hot salted butter and even more sea salt after that. Cinnamon and \nnutmeg underpin.

Finish: Dry, long and coastal, is this a bourbon from Skye?!

Comment: Like walking down a sea front pier after fresh rainfall on the hot, wooden walkway.

Score: 7.9

Taster

Nose: Opens with soft, buttery oak, corn and chunks of sweet, violet rye. Lightly earthy with a touch of pruney dried fruit and light herbal rye. In time dark chocolate, liquorice and bbq smoke. \n

Palate: On the shy side and not as complex as the nose would suggest, but a lovely suppleness. Opens with liquorice tainted oak then edgy, dark rye spices. Tannins and alcohol are drying.

Finish: Long and dry. Oily corn coming through with a touch of spice. Still pretty oaky and boy those tannins grip!

Comment: So the palate doesn’t quite have the complexity of the nose. But it’s a minor quibble!
