The Macallan Distillery
Oh what might have been...
1988, 12 Years Old
No age statement
Nose: Musty and sulphur-sour. Heavy sherry but not particularly of the clean kind.
Palate: Good bittersweet balance. The sherry side doesn't gel though.
Finish: A late arrival of something orangey.
Comment: Oh what might have been...
Nose: Toffee. Cedar. Slight peat.
Palate: Rich. Cream toffee. Fudge.
Finish: Typical Macallan 'Calvados' and flowering currant.
Comment: I prefer my Macallan with its typical sherry character.
